- OK so some of the details in the original posting were fairly pointless,
- although hardly hilarious. I assume that the quotes were not randomly
- chosen - from the tone of the posting I gathered that these were the more
- inane standards from the document, and that therefore they constitute only
- a part of the original document. In this respect, it is unlikely that there
- is nothing of value in these standards, and this is why I requested a copy if
- one was available.

- However, I still maintain that even in isolation, these points are not
- totally silly, and that although they could be taken for granted by a mature
- development team, that these obvious 'standards' need to be mentioned at
- least, and some need to be enforced when a new team is brought together in
- the early stages of any sizeable project. Too often companies 'coding
- standards' are mere reflections of current internal working practice, so
- that new programmers, or temporary contract staff are required to produce
- the same poor results as everyone else !
